Peggy Zhong describes what first five means to her.

How has First 5 impacted you and your organization?

It’s the first time for me to join the First 5 Summit in California and I’m very happy to be here. First 5 actually has a campaign which promotes parents talking, reading, and singing as much as possible with their children. Gymboree Play and Music believes that playing, talking, singing, and interactive play between parents and children, can support children’s development. This is especially essential in the first three years of their life. We provide fun interactive play and music activities to parents and their children.

What have been some of the highlights from the conference for you so far?

We actually got great feedback from parents who have been using these activities. I was very impressed by the morning Key Note Speakers, and on the second day, which was presented by Andrew Meltzoff, and he shared some latest study and data about infant brain growth and social learning. This inspired me and made me feel that they work we’re doing with Gymboree parents and children is very valuable.
